Born in 1941. The second son of the 9th generation Miyake Tōkurō (Living National Treasure). He studied under his father.
Holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property designation.
Member of the Japan Noh Association and the Nohgaku Association.
He made his stage debut at the age of 4, performing in "Fukurō Yama Bushi."
At the age of 20, in 1961, he performed "Tsurīgitsune" (Fishing Fox), and at 23, in 1964, he performed "Hanago."
He has been instructing sign language kyōgen for the Japan Deaf Theater Troupe, a pioneering effort, for over 40 years.
His older brother, Yasuyuki (Izumi Motohide), became the head of the Izumi-ryu school and adopted into the Yamawaki family, while he continues to uphold the Miyake family line of the 9th generation Miyake Tōkurō. His artistic style is similar to the Nomura Manzō family but is marked by a realistic depiction of everyday life in the main kyōgen plays, while his comedic timing in the ai-kyōgen (interludes) is noted for its elegant, refined quality
